“The Romance of Twilight & Friends: Delicious or Pernicious?”

Presentation and discussion by Prof. Traci Levy (Political Science and Gender Studies) and Tricia Hardgrove (AU alumna and horror film enthusiast).

Join us for a critical analysis and debate about the depiction of gender, sex, vampires, and violence in the Twilight Series books and movies. Hear an analysis of the series drawing on the work of anti-pornography crusader and feminist theorist Catherine MacKinnon. Consider whether and whereTwilight is on a spectrum of gender violence and compared to horror films.

Co-sponsored by: ICAN/WeCan Collaboration Project, Gender Studies, and Political Science.
