Freedom Rising: First-Hand Recollections from the Civil Rights Movement

racial-justice-matters-logoJoin us for an oral history and participatory discussion about the Civil Rights Movement!

Professor Emeritus Hugh Wilson (Political Science) will talk about his experience as a community organizer struggling for racial justice and Senior Associate Provost Lester Baltimore will tell us what it was like participating in the Freedom Rides.

The audience is encouraged to ask questions and discuss civil rights issues. Professor Marsha Darling (Professor and Director of Adelphi’s Center for African, Black, and Caribbean Studies) will moderate the panel and discussion.

This event is part of the Racial Justice Matters initiative, sponsored by the Collaboration Project. The panel is also co-sponsored by the Center for African, Black, and Caribbean Studies and the Political Science Department.
